Things to do

Do

Boat days to the Blue Lagoon, wine tastings in Commandaria country, forest trails, wreck dives. The experiences worth planning a day around.

Do · Diving · Larnaca

Dive the Zenobia Wreck

A 172-metre ferry that sank in 1980 with its cargo of lorries still on board, lying in 42 m of clear water off Larnaca. Regularly voted among the top ten wreck dives in the world.

Do · Hiking · Troodos Mountains

Caledonia Waterfall Trail

A shaded 3 km trail that follows the Kryos river from Troodos Square down to a 12-metre waterfall. Easy going, cool even in August, and best done downhill toward Platres.

Do · Winery · Troodos Mountains

Wine Tasting in Omodos

The prettiest of the Commandaria villages, with a cobbled square, a monastery and half a dozen family wineries within walking distance. Taste Commandaria, the world's oldest named wine, where it is made.

Do · Coastal walk · Ayia Napa

Cape Greco & the sea caves

The headland between Ayia Napa and Protaras, and a national forest park: white cliffs, a natural rock arch and caves cut into the sea at the waterline. Walk the coastal path from Ayia Napa, or take a boat and go in through the caves.

Do · Beach · Protaras

Fig Tree Bay

Shallow, sandy and sheltered, with a small rock island close enough to swim to and back before lunch. It is the reason most families choose Protaras over Ayia Napa, and it is busy by ten in high summer.

Do · Swimming cove · Protaras

Konnos Bay

A horseshoe cove in the pines between Protaras and Cape Greco, reached down a steep road and worth it. Clear, sheltered water, a single beach bar, and none of the frontage of the bigger beaches.
